How Rex Came to Be
Hey! I'm Paige. About 10 years ago, I visited Budapest while studying abroad in college. Not knowing anything about the city, I showed up with zero plans. I was sure Google and the standard trip review sites wouldn't lead me astray. After walking into several restaurants that were fully booked for the week and struggling to find local, interesting-looking dinner spots, I committed the cardinal sin of exploring a new place: I ate at the same restaurant twice. And I was only there for a weekend!
I wanted to explore and find authentic experiences, but I had no idea where to go, and the standard travel sites gave ill-advised guidance (The Hard Rock Cafe was a top-rated recommendation). When I told my friends about this after coming home, someone said to me: "My sister lived there. You should have asked for her recs!".
This led to my ongoing obsession with asking people for recommendations and meticulously logging and documenting them. I started to devise my own recs, too. I crafted detailed Excel sheets, word docs, voice notes, and Wanderlog boards. My Google Maps "hearts" rapidly exploded (1,000 hearts and counting). I've lost track of how many people have view-access to my hearts.
I'm not an influencer, I'm not a travel writer, and I'm not a travel agent. I just like finding cool spots and sharing them. I hope you like my Rex!
